We are homeless now. How did we get here? It's a story. We have been married for 38 years. We have always had a somewhat normal life. We have never owned a home and always rented. We used to always be able to rent without issue. The last few years have been rough. The property management company sold the first townhome out from under us, but they were happy to get us into one of their other more expensive properties. We were there for one year and then they gave us 30 days to be out when the one year lease was up. We were devastated. There was no way to come up with all the money it would take to find a new home in 30 days. It destroyed us.
We were able to stay at my daughters house for a little while. But they were renting their house from her father in law. He wanted us out so we left. We are now staying at an extended stay hotel with two beds.
Here's the kicker. I have two jobs. I make six figures between them. Six figures. We put everything we own in two storage units that i struggle to keep up on. I have taken out personal loans to cover things. And now they are coming out of my checks reducing my take home. I don't know what we are going to do. It is a struggle.
So I guess I am writing this to see if this is a common thing across the country now. I would love to hear from others. I would love to hear your stories. I would love advice from anyone. We are desperate.
